How to Get a Utah Real Estate License

Here's how the live training program works:
The Live Training + Online Program gives you the state-mandated textbook material plus supplemental* training to prepare you for a successful career in real estate. This 3-month program includes live instruction (Webinar or In-Person) and online coursework for the following REQUIRED COURSES:

FREQUENCY OF TRAINING -- (How many classes are included?)
If you choose weekdays - 2 times a week (6 two-hour sessions a month)
If you choose Saturdays - once a week (3 four-hour sessions a month)
Classes are held for the first 3 weeks of each month, and the 4th week you will have off to take the quizzes and complete the course final exam online.
DURATION OF CLASSES -- (How long do I have access to the classes?)
You will receive 3 consecutive months of training. You will cover 1 course a month. Concurrently, you receive 6 months of online access to the courses to read the e-Books, take chapter quizzes, and pass the course final exams. Keep in mind, the chapter quizzes and course exams are OPEN BOOK!

What Are the Requirements for a Utah Real Estate License?
To qualify for a Utah real estate license, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have a valid Social Security number
- Meet Utah’s standards for honesty, integrity, truthfulness, reputation, and competency
- Complete 120 hours of approved pre-license education
- Pass the Utah Sales Agent exam within one year of completing the course
- Submit your license application within 90 days of passing the exam
How Much Does a Utah Real Estate License Cost?
The total cost to get a Utah real estate license usually ranges between $756–$1,200. Here’s a breakdown of the costs:
- Pre-licensing education: $400–$700
- Exam fee: $66
- Background check and fingerprinting: $40–$50
- License application fee: $152
How Long Does It Take to Get a Utah Real Estate License?
The timeline depends mostly on how quickly you complete the 120-hour pre-license course and pass the exam. After that, Utah requires you to submit your application within 90 days of passing, and the Utah Division of Real Estate currently lists about 30 days as the turnaround time for new Sales Agent applications.
Can I Apply for a Utah Real Estate License Online?
Yes. Utah requires online applicants to use a UtahID to access the application system. The Division also notes that applicants should use the same email address they used for Pearson VUE testing to avoid processing delays.
Can I Get a Utah Real Estate License If I’m Already Licensed in Another State?
Yes. Utah has reciprocity agreements with Georgia, Mississippi, and Alberta, Canada.
If you hold an active real estate license in good standing from one of those jurisdictions, you may qualify through reciprocity. Utah also notes that applicants licensed in other states may still qualify through an education waiver path even if their state does not have a formal reciprocity agreement.
How Often Do I Renew My Utah Real Estate License?
Utah real estate licenses are valid for two years. Most active Sales Agents must complete 18 hours of continuing education each renewal cycle.
