Kentucky's real estate licensing examinations are administered by PSI. The most efficient way to schedule an exam is by going to the following website: PSI Scheduling for Kentucky Real Estate Exams. Candidates may also schedule an exam by calling 855-746-8176.

It is recommended that candidates schedule their exam 48 hours in advance.

Current processing time: The Kentucky Real Estate Commission does not provide an estimate of processing times.

Salesperson Exam

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and:
• Must have a high school diploma, GED, or college transcript
• Must provide proof of having completed the Kentucky 96-hour pre-license course OR 6 academic credit hours from a college or university in real estate courses
• Must undergo a National Criminal History Check
• Must successfully pass the sales associate licensing exam
• Must have errors and omissions insurance
• Must submit completed application to the Kentucky Real Estate Commission within 60 days of passing the exam
• Must pay the exam fee ($100) and license ($130)

Broker Exam

• Must be at least 18 years of age and:
• Must be licensed as a Kentucky sales associate, averaging at least 20 hours per week for a minimum of 24 months immediately preceding the filling of the application 
• Must undergo a National Criminal History Check
• Must have a high school diploma, GED, or college transcript
• Must have completed 336 classroom hours OR 21 academic credit hours broker courses approved by the Kentucky Real Estate Commission
• Must provide proof of having passed the broker licensing exam through PSI; must apply within 60 days of passing the exam
• Must pay the exam fee ($100) and license fee ($30)

Sales Associate Examination: The exam for sales associates consists of a general portion and a state portion. There are 80 questions on the general portion and candidates have 150 minutes to complete it. The state portion has 50 questions and candidates have 90 minutes to complete it.

Broker Examination: The broker examination consists of a general portion and a state portion. There are 75 questions on the general portion and candidates have 150 minutes to complete it. There are 50 questions on the state portion and candidates have 90 minutes to complete it.

Exams consist of multiple-choice questions and are given on computer. They may be taken at any of the following locations: Elizabethtown, Florence, Lexington, Louisville, Maysville, Middlesboro, Mount Sterling, Owensboro, Paducah, Somerset, and Whitesburg.

Salesperson Examination: A passing score is 75 or higher.

Broker Examination: A passing score is 75 or higher. 

All applicants must provide 2 forms of identification. The primary form of identification must be valid, government-issued, and must include a photograph and signature. The second form of identification must include a signature and a preprinted legal name. All information must match what has been submitted with the test-taker's application.
