Sign up for the required number of CE hours specific to your state’s regulations before your license renewal deadline. Each state mandates different requirements, typically including a mix of mandatory and elective courses to keep you informed about updates in laws, ethics, and industry standards.
CE courses can typically be completed online, in-person, or through live virtual formats, depending on your state’s approved options. Ensure you fulfill both core and elective requirements within the designated timeframe, covering subjects relevant to your practice and state guidelines.
After completing the courses, your education provider will usually report your credits directly to your state’s real estate licensing authority. Be sure to keep your certificates of completion and renew your license through your state’s portal before it expires to stay in compliance.

In Mississippi, real estate professionals must complete 16 hours of continuing education (CE) every two years to maintain an active license.
Of these 16 hours, at least eight must be in topics mandated by the Mississippi Real Estate Commission (MREC), such as agency law, contract law, and license law. The remaining hours may be earned through MREC-approved elective courses on subjects like ethics, real estate finance, or property management.
Although Mississippi licenses are renewed annually, licensees must ensure that the full 16-hour CE requirement is satisfied during each two-year renewal cycle.
Those who fail to meet this requirement by the deadline may incur late fees or have their licenses placed on inactive status. To reactivate an inactive license, all outstanding CE credits must be completed and any applicable fees paid. Because regulations may be updated periodically, licensees should verify the most current CE requirements with the Mississippi Real Estate Commission or an approved education provider.
