Sign up for the required number of CE hours specific to your state’s regulations before your license renewal deadline. Each state mandates different requirements, typically including a mix of mandatory and elective courses to keep you informed about updates in laws, ethics, and industry standards.
CE courses can typically be completed online, in-person, or through live virtual formats, depending on your state’s approved options. Ensure you fulfill both core and elective requirements within the designated timeframe, covering subjects relevant to your practice and state guidelines.
After completing the courses, your education provider will usually report your credits directly to your state’s real estate licensing authority. Be sure to keep your certificates of completion and renew your license through your state’s portal before it expires to stay in compliance.

In Indiana, real estate brokers and managing brokers must each complete 12 hours of continuing education (CE) every year, for a total of 36 hours over the state’s three-year renewal cycle.
Brokers can satisfy all 12 hours through commission-approved elective courses. Within these 12 hours:

All licensees must meet these requirements by June 30 of the renewal year. Those who do not complete their CE by the deadline may face late fees or have their license placed on inactive status. To regain active status, any outstanding CE obligations must be fulfilled and applicable fees paid. Because regulations may change, it is recommended to verify current CE requirements with the Indiana Real Estate Commission or an approved CE provider.
