The Best Real Estate Exam Prep in Wyoming

Wyoming's real estate exam is administered by Pearson VUE. Candidates may register for the exam at the following site: www.pearsonvue.com, or by calling Pearson VUE at 866-600-5442.

Salesperson Exam

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and:
• Must complete the online application form
• Must provide proof of having completed the required pre-license coursework
• Must submit fingerprint cards and undergo a background check. Fingerprint cards can be obtained at http://realestate.wyo.gov/real-estate-professionals/form . Fee for background check is $39
• Must submit one recent close-up photograph
• Must successfully complete the real estate exam
• Must pay exam fee ($141) and license fee ($300) 

Broker Exam

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and:
• Must complete the online application form
• Must provide proof of having completed the required pre-license coursework
• Must submit fingerprint cards and undergo a background check. Fingerprint cards can be obtained at http://realestate.wyo.gov/real-estate-professionals/form. Fee for background check is $39.
• Must submit one recent close-up photograph
• Must consent to examine and audit form is applying as a Responsible Broker
• Must obtain errors and omissions insurance
• Must successfully pass the real estate exam 
• Must pay the exam fee ($141) and the license fee ($300)

Salesperson Examination: The exam consists of a national and a state portion. The national portion includes 100 questions and candidates have 2.5 hours to complete it. The state portion has 32 questions and candidates have 1.5 hours to complete it.

Broker Examination: The exam consists of a national portion and a state portion. The national portion includes 10 simulation problems and candidates have 2.5 hours to complete it. The state portion includes 40 questions and candidates have 1.5 hours to complete it.

The exam is in multiple-choice format and is taken by computer.  It may be taken at the following locations: Casper, Cheyenne, Evanston, Gillette, Laramie, Mountain View, Rawlins, Riverton, Sheridan, and Torrington.

The following categories are featured on both the Salesperson and Broker Licensing Exam. The percentages show the make-up of how many questions you should expect from each category.

The national portion of the salesperson and broker exams covers the following topics:

• Real property characteristics, legal descriptions, and property use (Salesperson 9; Broker 9)
• Forms of ownership, transfer, and recording of title (Salesperson 8; Broker 8)
• Property value and appraisal (Salesperson 11; Broker 10)
• Real estate contracts and agency (Salesperson 16; Broker 17)
• Real estate practice (Salesperson 14; Broker 13)
• Property disclosures and environmental issues (Salesperson 8; Broker 8)
• Financing and settlement (Salesperson 8; Broker 8)
• Real estate calculations (Salesperson 7; Broker 8)

The state portion of the salesperson and broker exams covers the following topics:

• The Real Estate Licensing Agency's powers (Salesperson 2-5; Broker 2-5)
• Licensing (Salesperson 7-9; Broker 4-6)
• Requirements governing the activities of licensees (Salesperson 15-17; Broker 14-16)
• Additional topics (Salesperson 11-13; Broker 11-13)
• Broker responsibility and office management (Broker only; 14-16 items)

Salesperson Examination: A passing score is 75 or higher.

All applicants must bring 2 forms of identification. The name on the identification must match the name on the candidate's exam registration. The primary identification must be government-issued and must include a photograph and signature.  The secondary identification must include a signature. 

The primary form of identification can be any of the following:

• Government-issued driver's license
• US Learner's permit (plastic card only with photo and signature)
• National/state/country identification card 
• Passport
• Passport cards
• Military ID
• Military ID for spouses and dependents 
• Alien registration card 

The secondary identification can be any of the following:

• Social Security card
• Debit or credit card
• Any form of identification on the primary ID list
