Sign up for the required number of CE hours specific to your state’s regulations before your license renewal deadline. Each state mandates different requirements, typically including a mix of mandatory and elective courses to keep you informed about updates in laws, ethics, and industry standards.
CE courses can typically be completed online, in-person, or through live virtual formats, depending on your state’s approved options. Ensure you fulfill both core and elective requirements within the designated timeframe, covering subjects relevant to your practice and state guidelines.
After completing the courses, your education provider will usually report your credits directly to your state’s real estate licensing authority. Be sure to keep your certificates of completion and renew your license through your state’s portal before it expires to stay in compliance.

MICHIGAN REAL ESTATE LICENSE RENEWAL
In Michigan, both real estate salespersons and brokers are required to complete 18 hours of continuing education every three years to maintain an active license. This includes a mandatory 2 hours of real estate law, rules, and court cases per year and 1 hour of fair housing compliance annually. The remaining hours can be filled with elective courses that align with the licensee’s professional focus.
CE hours must be completed by the end of each three-year license cycle. Failure to meet these requirements can result in inactive status until compliance is restored.
