Sign up for the required number of CE hours specific to your state’s regulations before your license renewal deadline. Each state mandates different requirements, typically including a mix of mandatory and elective courses to keep you informed about updates in laws, ethics, and industry standards.
CE courses can typically be completed online, in-person, or through live virtual formats, depending on your state’s approved options. Ensure you fulfill both core and elective requirements within the designated timeframe, covering subjects relevant to your practice and state guidelines.
After completing the courses, your education provider will usually report your credits directly to your state’s real estate licensing authority. Be sure to keep your certificates of completion and renew your license through your state’s portal before it expires to stay in compliance.

In Alaska, real estate professionals must complete 20 hours of continuing education (CE) every two years to maintain an active license.
This includes an 8-hour mandatory Core Curriculum, covering topics such as state license law updates, consumer protection, and risk management. The remaining 12 hours can be completed through elective courses on subjects like property management, ethics, and real estate finance.
All continuing education must be completed before the license renewal deadline, which falls on January 31 of even-numbered years. If CE requirements are not met by the expiration date, licensees may face late fees or have their licenses placed on inactive status. To reactivate an inactive license, all CE requirements must be fulfilled, and any applicable fees must be paid before returning to active practice.
