Florida Real Estate Exam FAQs
To help you prepare for the Florida real state exam, we included information on how to schedule your exam, the exam’s format, and what you’ll be tested on. Now, all that's left to do is study with the best exam prep in the nation!
Applicants may submit their applications online.
They may also schedule an exam by calling a Pearson VUE Customer Care Associate at (888) 204-6289.
Current processing time: Most applications are processed within approximately 30 days.
Salesperson Exam
- An applicant must be at least 18 years of age and:
- Have earned a high school diploma
- Have successfully completed 63 hours of pre-licensing coursework approved by the Florida Real Estate Commission
- Submit an application to the Real Estate Commission
- Must provide Social Security number
- Submit fingerprints for a background check
- Take and pass the Florida Real Estate Sales Associate Examination
- Pay the exam fee ($36.75) and license fee ($83.75)
- Activate the license (this can be done by completing the DBPR RE 11-Become Active-Sales Associate or Broker Sales Associate form, or, once a license number has been issued, a broker can activate the sales associate using his or her online account
- Before the initial sales associate license expires, the applicant must complete 45 hours of pos-licensing coursework approved by the Florida Department of Real Estate
Broker Exam
- An applicant must have completed 24 months as an active real estate sales associate within 5 years of becoming a licensed broker and:
- Must have completed 72 of FREC-approved pre-licensing coursework for brokers
- Must submit an application and application fee
- Must provide Social Security number
- Must submit fingerprints for a background check
- Must take and pass the Florida Real Estate Broker Examination with a grade of at least 75
- Must activate license by completing the DBPR RE 13 Broker Transaction form
- Must complete 60 hours of FREC-approved post-licensing coursework for brokers before the expiration of initial license
Salesperson Examination: Candidates have 3.5 hours to complete the exam.

The exam is given on a computer and is in multiple-choice format. The exam is given at Pearson VUE testing centers in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Gainesville, Orlando, Lake Mary, Lakeland, Avon Park, Ormond Beach, Melbourne, Sarasota, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Fort Myers, Miami, Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, Boynton Beach, Pensacola, Coral Gables, Doral, and South Miami.

Salesperson Examination: To pass the exam, a candidate needs to answer at least 75 of the 100 questions correctly.
Broker Examination: To pass the exam, a candidate needs to answer at least 75 of the 100 questions correctly.
All candidates are required to bring two valid forms of signature identification, one of which must be government-issued. This can be any of the following:
- Driver's license
- State identification card
- Passport
- Military ID
Student or employment ID cards and photo-bearing credit cards are not acceptable.
Additionally, candidates must also bring the following documents:
- Florida Division of Real Estate Authorization Notice (if received prior to testing)
- Certificate of Pre-Licensing Education Completion
- Florida Bar Card and/or Letter of Equivalency from the Division of Real Estate
