How Our Continuing Education Works

2. Complete Your Courses

3. Submit Your CE Credits

After completing the courses, your education provider will usually report your credits directly to your state’s real estate licensing authority. Be sure to keep your certificates of completion and renew your license through your state’s portal before it expires to stay in compliance.

OHIO REAL ESTATE LICENSE RENEWAL

In Ohio, both salespersons and brokers must complete 30 hours of continuing education (CE) every three years to maintain an active license.

For Salespersons:
- The 30-hour requirement includes 12 mandatory hours covering:
  - 3 hours of Core Law,
  - 3 hours of Civil Rights,
  - 3 hours of Ethics.
- The remaining 18 hours can be from elective courses in approved real estate topics.
For Brokers and Management-Level Licensees:
- The 30-hour requirement includes the same 12 mandatory hours as salespersons, plus an additional:
  - 3-hour Broker Responsibility course, which is required for brokers and management-level licensees to maintain their status.

Licensees aged 70 or older only need to complete 9 mandatory hours: 3 hours each in Core Law, Civil Rights, and Ethics. All CE hours must be completed by the licensee’s birthday every third year to avoid the license becoming inactive.
