All applicants for the Salesperson examination must be pre-certified by PSI before they will be allowed to take the exam.

Salesperson Examination: The national portion of the exam consists of 80 questions and the candidate has 120 minutes to complete this portion. The state portion consists of 30 questions and the candidate has 45 minutes to complete the exam.
Broker Examination: The national portion of the exam consists of 75 questions and the candidate has 120 minutes to complete this portion. The state portion consists of 40 questions and the candidate has 60 minutes to complete that portion.
Both exams are made up of multiple-choice questions and are given on a computer. Both exams are given at West Hartford, Auburn, and Milford.

Salesperson Examination: Candidates must correctly answer at least 70% of the questions.
Broker Examination: Candidates must correctly answer at least 75% of the questions.
All candidates must provide 2 forms of identification. One must be a valid, government-issued identification which bears the applicant's signature and photograph. This can include the following:
The second form of identification must include the applicant's signature and preprinted legal name. All forms of identification must match the name on the Examination Registration Form and the Registration Confirmation Notice.
