Sign up for the required number of CE hours specific to your state’s regulations before your license renewal deadline. Each state mandates different requirements, typically including a mix of mandatory and elective courses to keep you informed about updates in laws, ethics, and industry standards.
CE courses can typically be completed online, in-person, or through live virtual formats, depending on your state’s approved options. Ensure you fulfill both core and elective requirements within the designated timeframe, covering subjects relevant to your practice and state guidelines.
After completing the courses, your education provider will usually report your credits directly to your state’s real estate licensing authority. Be sure to keep your certificates of completion and renew your license through your state’s portal before it expires to stay in compliance.

In Idaho, real estate professionals must complete 19.5 hours of continuing education (CE) every two years to maintain an active license. This requirement includes two Commission Core courses (totaling 7.5 hours) that focus on important regulatory updates, legal guidelines, and best practices. The remaining 12 hours can be satisfied through approved elective courses on various real estate topics such as contracts, ethics, and agency law.
Idaho real estate licenses expire at midnight on the last day of the licensee’s birth month in the renewal year, and all CE hours must be completed before this deadline. Licensees who fail to fulfill their CE obligations on time will have their license placed on inactive status. To reactivate an inactive license, any outstanding CE requirements must be completed, and all applicable reactivation fees must be paid. Licensees should consult the Idaho Real Estate Commission or an approved provider for the most up-to-date CE information.
