Candidates can go to the following website to schedule an exam online. First-time users will need to create an account with eAccessNY. 

Current Processing Timeframes: New York can take up to 2 weeks to process real estate licenses.

Salesperson Exam

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and:
• Must have created an account on the Occupations and Licensing Management System eAccessNY.
• Must provide proof of having completed 77 hours of pre-license education 
• Must bring Summary of Your Submission page printed (given once the exam is scheduled on eAccessNY) to the exam site
• Must successfully pass the real estate exam
• Must be sponsored by a New York state licensed real estate broker
• Must pay the exam fee ($15) and license fee ($65) 

Broker Exam

• Applicants must be at least 20 years old and:
• Submitted a completed application and the required fee to the Department of State. Prior to filing this application, all proposed business names must be submitted, in writing, to the Division of Licensing Services for approval. Upon approval of the name you wish to use, you must then file the appropriate document with either the respective County Clerk's office or the NYS Department of State, Division of Corporations.
• Provide documentation of having at least 2 years of experience as a licensed real estate salesperson or at least 3 years of experience in the general real estate field or a combination of the both
• Must meet the minimum points required for the experience type
• Must have successfully completed 75 hours salesperson course, 75 hour broker course, and a 2 hour continuing education course on cultural competency, and a 45 hour broker course
• Must successfully pass the real estate exam
• Must have a current NYS photo driver's license or non-driver ID card 
• Must pay exam fee ($15) and license fee ($185) 

Salesperson Examination: There are 75 questions and candidates are given 90 minutes to complete it.

Broker Examination: There are 100 questions and candidates are given 2.5 hours to complete it.

The exam is multiple-choice and will be given on computer. It can be taken at any of the following locations: Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, Franklin Square, Hauppauge, New York City, Plattsburgh, Pomona, Rochester, Syracuse, and Utica.

The exam is based on the pre-licensing curriculum.

New York Salesperson Syllabus

Salesperson Examination: A passing score is 70% or higher.

Broker Examination: A passing score is 70% or higher.

All candidates must bring government-issued identification that is current and includes a photograph. That identification can by any of the following:

• Driver's license
• State-issued identification
• IDNYC (NYC Identification card)
• Military ID
• US Passport
• Employment Authorization Card (issued by US Citizenship and Immigration Services)
• US-issued INS ID
• Certificate of US citizenship
• Foreign passport
• Brazilian, Mexican, Honduran, and Ecuadorian Consular ID

Additionally, candidates must bring the page they were requested to print when they scheduled their exam on eAccessNY. This page is referred to as the Summary of Your Submission and includes all of the exam information, including the candidate number.
