Because there are different questions of varying degrees of difficulty on each exam, a statistical procedure known as equating is used in grading the exams. This is done to ensure that no candidate is put at an unfair advantage or disadvantage due to the particular questions they receive on the exam. Raw scores are converted into scaled scores that range from 0 to 100. To pass the exam, a candidate must make at least 75% on the exam, although numeric scores are only reported to failing candidates.
